About Laurence

Born and raised in Halifax, NS, Laurence Currie has become one of Canada’s most acclaimed producers/ engineers to ever come out of the East Coast.

Before finding his home in Toronto, ON, Laurence was a partner in Idea of East Recording Studio, actively pursuing a career in music production. Fast forward 20 years, and he is still taking the Canadian music industry by storm with his effortless yet effective sound production and engineering. Primarily working out of his home studio (Sunnyside Studio), Laurence spends his days honing his craft, perfecting the art of production and mixing for some of Canada’s most admired acts.

His time and talent have proven worthy, with a stack of awards behind his name including: 2 Gold Records, 2 Junos, 2 Music Nova Scotia Awards for Audio Engineer of the year, and a slew of other accolades.

Having worked with such acts including; Amelia Curran, Deep Sea Arcade (Australia), Sloan, Holy F@&K, The Once, Hands And Teeth, Wintersleep, Gloryhound, Little City, and Hey Rosetta, Laurence Currie is armed with one of the most impressive resumes in Eastern Canada, not to mention Toronto. He recently teamed up with Producer Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness) to co-host the television show Master Tracks (AUX TV) – a show based on taking a song from demo to download in 1 day. After the success of Season 1, the series left television in high demand, and has since seen the light of a second season.

Suffice it to say, while Laurence is based in Toronto, ON, the beauty of modern portable recording has and will continue to prove him a great advantage, as he travels ocean to ocean to continue to transform artists’ sounds with the precision, talent and ears that have earned him some of the highest notoriety and awards in Canada today.
